For the past several weeks, NorthPoint Development has carried out the beginning stages of construction on a $60 million apartment complex poised to bring sought-after density to the Berkley Riverfront area.

The Riverside-based developer officially broke ground July 21 on the CORE — or Connecting Our Riverfront to Everyone — apartment complex, on an eight-acre site it acquired from the Port Authority of Kansas City for $4.25 million.

Residents are settling into the first, of what will be five, completed luxury apartment buildings this summer at Summit Square’s The Donovan in Lee’s Summit, Mo.

Developed and managed by NorthPoint Development, the 327-unit, multifamily community will showcase one and two bedroom units, highlighted by a cross-sharing amenities program with their phase-one counterpart.

The long (and impressive) list of unique and modern amenities includes a grotto-style plunge pool and meditation spa, zero-entry pool, 16-ft rock climbing wall, 24-hr cyber cafe + gourmet coffee bar and a private yoga studio.

NorthPoint Development’s $60 million apartment complex, CORE, is heading to the Berkley Riverfront area in Kansas City, Mo.

The Port KC board unanimously approved the development earlier this week, which includes a revenue bond for up to $49 million in financing. The bond will be repaid by NorthPoint and its financial partner in the project, Northwestern Mutual.

CORE, an acronym for Connecting Our Riverfront to Everyone – also named by NorthPoint – will be the second apartment development in the Berkley Park area and Northpoint’s third development in downtown Kansas City in the past couple of years.

City Scene KC – January 2020 – ‘River Market West II Apartments Welcomes First Residents’

The River Market West II Apartments project on Fourth Street is expected to be completed by early April, about 2 1/2 years after the 120-unit development was granted tax incentives by the city.

Work on the clubhouse, garage and first phase of the apartments is done, and residents are scheduled to begin moving in this weekend, said Andy Ashwal of GFI Management.

The 143,413 sq. ft. building features a concrete podium deck foundation with underground parking, four stories of wood-framed construction, and a rooftop outdoor space, according information posted on the Neighbors Construction website.

CityScene KC – October 2019 – ‘NorthPoint Plans $60M Apartment Project by Berkley Riverfront Park’

NorthPoint Development is planning a $60 million apartment development near Berkley Riverfront Park that could begin accepting what’s anticipated to be up to 500 residents as early as late summer 2021.

The 348-unit project is proposed for an eight-acre site just east of the Bar K dog park, restaurant and bar, according to a briefing given by NorthPoint representatives to members of the Port KC development committee.

The development site is property owned by the authority which has a tentative deal to sell it to NorthPoint for $4.25 million.
