Fox 4 News – September 2019 – ‘Push to Remove Abandoned Tracks Gains Steam’

A developer in the River Market wants the city to get rid of an abandoned railroad track that many drivers consider dangerous. Brian Benjamin, a project manager with NorthPoint Development, launched an online petition calling on the city to remove the old, worn-out tracks on 5th Street, near Broadway. The developer is currently in the second phase of building RM West Apartments, a portion of which sits directly in front of tracks.

The apartment boom in the downtown River Market district got a little louder Thursday with the approval of tax incentives … The developer of River Market West II was granted a 15-year property tax abatement by the Planned Industrial Expansion Authority. The $23.6 million project is being developed by NorthPoint Development on behalf of GFI Capital of New York.
